The mythical phoenix is in most folklore a gold and purple bird with extensive tail and jeweled eyes. As the bird grows old it builds a nest of herbs, spices and twigs in a date palm. The heat of the sun ignites the twigs and the phoenix stands in the flames with outspread wings. From the ashes a youthful phoenix develops and the legend continues.

Phoenix rising
In your eyes I clearly discern shadows of sorrow,
swamped by memories - dawn heralds a new tomorrow.
Primal screams of hope start reverberating …
willing tendrils of despair rapidly withering.
Thrilled photons of light set the very being ablaze
Ashes afire! After five centuries …. Now this place
As if all gone ... time suddenly ceases to exist.
This one wasted hull now the heavens cannot resist!
Another day and yet another place, I met you,
Yearning for that majestic rebirth that is soon due.
As i sadly seek a portal to face this angel
All is but lost in the twilight of my life’s jungle
For once did I dare wish for the eighth to show the way
forever hoping this road would not lead me astray
Ever searching for that elusive rainbow to end
to spray its brilliant colors as I rush through the bend
grant me only a moment, I ask, to bid adieu
for me to burn eternally at the sight of you.
Just when gloom hangs its mantle on this weary body
lost screams of a wandering soul drowning madly
flying dreams of paradise lost - I dare awaken.
parched lips whisper your name … as dawn starts to hasten
Flames engulf me!… another phoenix has just risen!
