Artist Statement
Inspiration for the artworks is derived from the symbol in Mythology and the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen’s tale “The Phoenix Bird”, 1872.
My aim is creating abstract organic and contemporary artworks that will raise questions concerning human’s beliefs, the search for eternal life and rebirth. The therapeutic feeling I aspire to portray is related to the relaxed feeling and focused on the increasing transformation of the flame over the time it is burning which provides a warm and relaxing sensation while acknowledging the variety of shapes and forms that emerges in and around the space it is engaging.
The linear attribute of time proposes a constant movement away from the past into the present and towards the future in its occupied space. Depicting a story using the past as settings involve interpretations of the world as it once was, the present time with its extreme expression of storytelling and the future as a symbolic place that one moves towards rather than away from like the past.
“As the Phoenix rises from the ashes it is my aspiration that we too can grow from the trials and frustrations we face in life and with anticipation go fearless towards a better future. Throughout our efforts that we might take a small excess of awareness and rise up a blaze that will burn brightly in the darkest and endless night that is ignorance. Let our difficulties, happiness and understanding create a river of continuous and vitalizing reassurances.”
