Artist Statement

Working as a Pastry Cook in a reputable bakery in Copenhagen, I have studied and learned the art of bakery and sugar craft. This was my introduction to producing edible art in the form of breads, cakes, pastries and handmade chocolates.

In 1986 after moving to Australia, I traveled the vast country before buying and operating my own bakery in Sydney. During this time, I participated in many of the sugar craft competitions, winning gold for three consecutive years and numerous other awards relating to the art of pastry cooking.  I longed to achieve more from my artistic impressions other than making cakes, butter carvings and chocolate sculptors; these were only there for eating, and never to be seen again.

I decided in 1994 to learn to paint and was extremely fortunate to meet an enthusiastic impressionist artist who encouraged and instructed me in oils on canvas.  Later I studied with other artists in different mediums and techniques. My desire for art increased so intensely that I decided to study visual art at TAFE.

These studies are leading to my future where I predict further three-dimensional works and a lot more paintings within which I would like to express my admiration of nature in all its forms, colours and textures. I am intrigued by being an artist purely for visual pleasure, determined to push my limits to becoming an artist for the people. I look forward to seeing where the evolution takes me.
