Symbolism of fire

Different symbolism clusters around fire and flame and the images will usually depict some kind of energy positive, negative or neutral. The context of our portrayal of fire and flame will influence our experience of the images. The emotions that are evoked will be influenced by the impression and associated imagery such as smoke, soot and haze which are also adding to the ambiance an artist can generate.

"Envision"
Acrylic on canvas, 50 x 70 cm

Envision: To conceive or see something within one's mind is to imagine.

I produced this painting inspired from the visions of the forever changing images of a fire, as well as the poetry of Mary Ellen.

"Song of Phoenix".

Through the grey swirls of dusty smoke her eyes gleam
Her eyes speak "I believe and so I am"
Rising above the mischievous flames
Musical notes of her song dance in celebration of
SHE the Phoenix
Who knows that death is not death
But a means of passage
A transformation from one place to another

Apollo, god of the sun
Was enchanted by the Phoenix's song
With the rising sun he sought her
Listened to her song of immortality
He cherished the self-determination and free-spirit
Of the woman firebird and honored her divinity

Still Apollo listens.
Will you listen?
The song the Phoenix sings
Will be authentically created for you
A song resurrected from the ashes of your past life
Burned on the pyre of anointed wood
Through the grey swirls of dusty smoke your eyes gleam
Your eyes speak "I believe and so I am"
YOU the Phoenix
Who knows that death is not death
But a means of believing in
A transformation of being someone,
To being, who I am.
